Running his studio as an independent designer from 2008 to 2020, Florian Markl-Berger was responsible for the conception and execution of a wide range of visual identities and graphic productions for institutions, events, brands and products. The expertise included analogue and digital media, linear and interactive formats as well as mastery of two-dimensional and spatial environments.
Markl-Berger's interdisciplinary background and experimental approach has shaped both his commissioned and self-initiated projects.

In 2022, Florian Markl-Berger founded the label for contemporary premium rugs KOSHKA BERLIN.

Florian Markl-Berger studied product design and visual communication at the Offenbach University of Art and Design. He graduated in 2007 with a diploma in design, majoring in language and aesthetics under Professor Burghart Schmidt and experimental spatial concepts under Professor Heiner Blum.

Parallel to his studies, he was an assistant to the artist Tobias Rehberger for several years and worked as a freelancer in various design offices and agencies in Germany and abroad, including Frankfurt am Main, Berlin and New York City.

Florian Markl-Berger’s diverse repertoire of authentic, individual stylistic devices and modes of expression result from longstanding visual research.

His work has won several design awards, including the Art Directors Club and the Red Dot Award.

His work has been exhibited at the Design-Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen, the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt am Main and the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie in Karlsruhe, among others.
